Merry Christmas ya’ll and if you are stopping by from Run to Radiance, welcome! Are you ready for my Christmas Blogger Stylin’ Home Tour?
Owning a retail shop like Sweet Clover means that we have been going full force HOLIDAY at the barn since the beginning of November, hosting three sales in the space of four weeks! But we are lucky that the madness ended last weekend so there is still time to focus on Christmas at home. And that’s just what I’ve been doing this week.
My decorating inspiration this year is a mix of keep it simple and old school style and I can’t think of a better way of sharing what I’ve come up with than via my sweet friend, Lindsay’s Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours Series.
Let’s start in the family room where we snuggle by the fire and enjoy the sparkle of the Christmas tree.
My large scale star is again the focal point of the mantel just like last year. Below the star I created a snowy Christmas village with vintage putz mica houses interspersed with glittered houses rescued from the thrift store. All the houses even light up at night with battery operated string lights. The kids have taken to calling it the little town of Bethlehem.
I kept the rest of the room cozy – mixing in new, red buffalo check pillows, candles and brass deer.
Of course the main focus in the family room is the tree! The kids really wanted colored lights this year so we went full on old school and added fluffy gold garland and red, green, blue and gold Shiny Brites too. The combination reminds me of the colorful trees of my childhood.
Next up is the kitchen eating area. I love to decorate the open shelving for each season. The gold accessories and plant life coupled with ornaments and mercury glass trees say Christmas in a subtle way. And with a few quick changes the look can work after the holidays as well. Like I said I’m keeping it simple!
My favorite painting by my Father-in-law mad its way from the Fall mantel to the kitchen.
We had these 12 days of Christmas glasses when I was growing up. I’ve managed to thrift up 9 of the 12 so far. The swizzle sticks are vintage from my Grandparents’ home.
Moving down the hall to the entryway, I added new greenery swags and golden beaded garland. The arm knitted wall hanging from my Fall mantel also found a home here.
I snapped up this large scale canvas back in the Fall for less than $20. It’s just propped up over the existing framed photograph that normally graces the entry. Perfect for a quick change after the Holidays. I also displayed a small vintage nativity scene here this year in place of our larger manager set.
The final stop on the tour is my vintage Christmas tree in the living room. My sister scored a white artificial tree for me on clearance last year and brought it to me all the way from Jersey. My brightly colored, vintage ornament collection really pops on the white background! I love it!
Instead of wrapped packages I adorned this tree with the bright, vintage ornament boxes. I was inspired to show them off by this amazing Anthropologie store display that will make any Shiny Brite lover’s heart beat a little faster! The boxes are too pretty to store away and cleanup will be a cinch when it’s time to pack away the tree.
Thanks so much for coming along on the tour with me. I hope you will follow along with the rest of the tour series – The Inspired Room is the next stop. Be sure to start at the beginning of the tour if you are just joining us too!
