For Christmas this year I asked for a TV for our master bedroom. You guys…I have a really bad habit of falling asleep in front of the tube and being able to catch up on my shows in bed sounded like heaven. (Tell me I am not the only one…please)
This little art deco dresser has been hanging out providing extra storage in the bedroom for a few years. I never painted it but the deep drawers are great for storage. It was the perfect candidate to become our new TV console.
The dresser had beautiful wood grain but also a lot of veneer issues. Paint was the obvious choice to give it new life. I painted the body with General Finishes Snow White. Then I decided to GO BIG – I applied gold Rub ‘N Buff to the entire front of all three drawers.
To complete the makeover I pulled together a small gallery wall around the TV screen. The grouping is based around this Van Gogh print I scored at Goodwill for $9.96. It sort of reminds me of the artwork in a late 80s doctor’s office. But I’ve always loved impressionists and I plan to add more accents to the room drawing from the teal and pinky-red in the print. Plus I love a gold frame. 1984 never looked so good!
To finish off the gallery I added this geometric heart printable from All Things Thrifty, printed our wedding date and framed it and dug up a small, thrifted sunburst mirror. I wanted to reference our marriage and relationship without getting too mushy and I think I achieved that with a few small touches!
If you need me I’ll be in my room enjoying the new view and a little television programming. Oh who am I kidding? I’ll probably be asleep!
