My front door was sad.
For one thing it was painted a nasty, dark brown. It had mismatched hardware. It’s also very difficult to see the front door from the street (luckily).
See? The door is hiding behind our enormous landscaping. (I added a helpful red arrow so you know exactly where the door is!)
Since visitors can’t see the front entrance they usually come to the kitchen door and we have let the porch go. I have a long list of improvements to make this outdoor space more inviting.
This week I crossed off the first item on the list! The door got two coats of Annie Sloan Napoleonic Blue and one coat of clear wax. Normally I wouldn’t use ASCP on an exterior door but this one is clearly well protected from the elements under the porch roof!
Next I installed a new brass door handle and kick plate. I think the navy and brass look awesome together! My front door is happy now!
And so am I! Painting the door has brightened up the whole porch and helped to make the front entrance stand out.
Next on my list is staining the ugly concrete porch floor. Anyone tried that before? I would love to hear your experiences.
