It’s day two of my B&A extravaganza. Today I have a makeover of a pair of antique chairs to share. I got these guys for free. You can maybe see why the original owner was giving them away…
But all the chairs really needed was a nice coat of paint and fresh batting and fabric to bring them back to life. I started by removing the little pegs that probably attached a mandolin carving to the backs of the chairs. So sad that the origonal carving was missing!
After patching the holes left by the pegs, the chairs got a thorough cleaning and a quick sanding. Then I painted the chairs with two coasts of ASCP Old White and distressed them heavily to show off the details.
While the paint was drying I reupholstered each seat with cool red and blue bamboo vintage fabric that I found at the thrift store. The pattern is so fun and retro for Summer. Here they are in all their refreshed glory.
Here’s a closeup of the fabric and distressing.
These chairs spent the Summer in our barn space but did not sell. I’m thinking about reupholstering them to be more neutral for the Fall and Winter sales. What do you think? Do you love the fabric or hate it? Let me hear it!
