Today’s the day I’m sharing progress on my dining room makeover! I’m so thankful to Cassie and all the bloggers participating in Fall in Love for the much needed push to work on our dining room.
Let’s refresh our memory with a few before photos.
When we started this makeover series I really was not in love with our red dining space and vowed to paint and wallpaper my way to a cooler color palette.
Let’s check my progress in accomplishing the vision laid out in my design board shall we?
If you’re paying attention you can probably tell I didn’t cross everything off my original list. The room is still red! But with the new, blue carpet, drapes and wallpaper it is certainly toned down. Painting walls is not my favorite activity and I’m fine with putting it off for awhile. Besides that fabulous thrifted mirror is rimmed in red!
We also were not able to remove the top piece of the china cabinet. My husband I tried to lift it but it was way too heavy! Instead I shifted it to the other wall which also makes the room feel larger. Once we can arrange for additional manpower to lend a hand, I plan to remove the hutch and use the buffet under the mirror with a pair of cool lamps.
You might also notice that we don’t have a chandelier. I originally planned to keep the one that was present but now I’m considering a more modern orb chandelier. Like this one from Lowes.
Finally I am planning to recover the wood dining chair seats. I struggled to choose a coordinating fabric but finally settled on Lacefield Keenland Blend Basil. I’m also going to add some to the new upholstered chairs too. The fabric will bring the green tones in the World Market curtains (which you see a snippet of in the mirror above) into the rest of the room.
I’ve got several projects in the works for the dining room so stay tuned!
Thanks for visiting!
